Author Abnish Singh Chauhan

Dr. Abnish Singh Chauhan (b. 04th June 1979) obtained his M.Phil. (2003) and Ph.D. (2013) from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, M.P., India. He has been teaching English and Communication Skills to both Under-graduate and Post-graduate students for the last eleven years. Formerly he worked with the Department of English, IFTM University and the Department of Humanities, Teerthankar Mahaveer University, Moradabad, U.P., India. During his tenure in TMU, he worked as Coordinator of Department of Humanities, Coordinator of Library Committee, ACS – Examination and Member of Research Committee. His areas of academic and research interest include British Literature, Indian English Literature, Communication Skills and Contemporary Hindi Poetry and Criticism.

 

Published Books

 

His significant books include: The Fictional World of Arun Joshi: Paradigm Shift in Values, William Shakespeare King Lear: A Critical StudySwami Vivekananda: Select Speeches, Speeches of Swami Vivekananda and Subhash Chandra Bose: A Comparative StudyFunctional English, Functional Skills in English Language and Literature and Writing Skills along with a Hindi poetry collection Tukada Kagaz Ka (http://tukdakagazka.blogspot.in/). He has also prepared course materials, namely: Silence! The Court is in Session: A Critical Study (Co-author), A Passage to India: A Critical Study (Co-author) and A Quintessence of English Prose (Co-author) for Dr RMLA University, Faizabad, U.P.

 

Translation Work

 

His deep interest in translation prompted him to translate thirty poems of B S Gautam Anurag under the title Burns Within (http://burnswithin.blogspot.in/) from Hindi into English and some poems of Paddy Martin from English into Hindi.

 

Publications in Anthologies

 

His English poems are collected in the anthologies: A String of Words and Exiled Among Natives: An Anthology of Contemporary Poetry; whereas his Hindi lyrics are published in the anthologies: Moradabad Janpad ke Pratinidhi Rachanakar, Geet Visheshank (Sarswati Suman magazine), Bhrashtachar ke Viruddh, Geet Vasudha, Shabdayan, Trisugandhi, etc. His biographical profile is included in Who is Who in the World, Wikipedia, Uttar Pradesh ke Hindi Sahitykar: Sandarbh Kosh.

Editing

 

Being an avid student of literature and language, Dr Singh has been editing a research journal titled International Journal of Higher Education and Research (www.ijher.com) and two web magazines Poorvabhas (www.poorvabhas.in) and Bhashantar (www.bhashantar.org). He is also the managing editor of Creation and Criticism, a quarterly international peer-reviewed refereed e-journal devoted to English Language and Literature.

He had been invited as Speaker to Ahmedabad International Literature Festival 2016.

Besides Harivansh Rai Bachchan Yuva Geetkar Samman (2013) for his Hindi poetry collection Tukada Kagaz Ka from Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan, Lucknow, U.P., he is the recipient of Pratham Kavita Samman (2011) from Kavita Kosh (www.kavitakosh.org), Book of the Year Award (2012) from the Think Club, Michigan, USA, Srajnatmak Sahitya Puraskar (2013) from Rajasthan Patrika, Jaipur, Rajasthan, Navankur Puraskar (2014) from Abhivyakti Vishwam, Sharjah, UAE among others.
